Wednesday, May 15, 2019 Can we change how we feel in an instant? Imagine you are speaking to someone, and a sense of irritation creeps in, and then you can change that in an instant to a sense of peace or compassion! Imagine without nothing changing on the outside what if we could change how we feel in a situation by replacing the thought that created the thinking? What do I mean by replacing the thought?  Let me share this amazing experience I had recently. I was driving back from Ooty with my family. Those of you who may be familiar with the terrain may know that the narrow steep road that takes us to the hill station becomes even riskier as we come down. Music on, just having had a sumptuous breakfast, enjoying the cool chilling breeze in April, watching the green tea gardens we were slowly moving down…

Sunday, September 16, 2018 Out of many, one lesson that stayed with me after I completed my NLP practitioner program was that of being aware of the narrative I had running in my head all day. The story we tell ourselves! You may have noticed we keep speaking and listening to ourselves endlessly the entire day. In simple terms, we say, I think a lot. Thinking is good. They say you become what you think about. So isn’t that a reason good enough to keep a check on our thoughts?  In fact, my thoughts are like motion pictures.  Considering the number of scenes that I enact in my mind I can almost see a movie credit at the end of every day that says written, directed and produced by me. And,just by observing these conversations I have discovered a lot about me.  I began using this awareness often as I…

Thursday, February 15, 2018 During my coaching and mentoring program I had an amazing awareness of myself. Then as I thought more about it I began seeing traces of it in many areas of my life. I realized I wished to take actions in certain situations and yet was holding back. I wished to stop doing few behaviour’s, however, was not able to change. I was pushing myself to complete some actions that I had initiated but was finding excuses not to finish them. After taking a decision I found myself being passive. The decision seemed right yet did not feel right. But, with some decisions, it was an instant go, felt totally in charge. When I asked myself what is happening, I got an instant reply saying, “I don’t know”!! So I labelled myself as lazy, not confident or not good enough. How about you? Do you experience something…

Monday, April 22, 2019 Last weekend, I happened to watch the movie “Angry Birds” once again. I must have seen the movie several times, but this time a scene caught my attention. The film is the story of a Bird’s Island where everyone believes in being calm, happy and merry all the time. There is no place for anyone who gets mad or feels upset. This lovely peaceful island has visitors, a family of pigs. After befriending the birds, the pigs steal their eggs and run away, rather sail away.   Now everyone wants their eggs back but are not sure how to get them back. Red, the protagonist bird, who is a sort of an outcast because of his disgruntling nature reminds the other birds that they are the descendants of the dinosaurs and that they should be angry that their eggs were stolen. He demands them not be calm,…

Friday, November 1, 2019 It was just another day at work, but today what was different was that I had decided to take the metro back home from the office. It was inspired by the thought that I should do something different that day and partially because my vehicle was not available to me. As I waited for the train at the station, I felt delighted about the clean surroundings and was quite pleased with how everyone was mindful of it. Inside the train, in the ladies’ coach, I selected a vacant cosy spot in one of the corners and stood there listening to my audiobook. In my sight, I could see other ladies. As I looked at them, I could see that most of them were students returning from schools and college, and quite a few like me returning home after work. On the second or third station, a…
